Sand City Is Home.
Let's Build What's Next.

I'm Luke Kilpatrick, a proud father, local business owner, and Sand City resident. I've been showing up at council meetings, speaking up for my neighbors and fellow business owners, and learning this city from the inside out. Now I'm asking for your vote, with a seat at the table.

Why I'm Running

For the Bay, and for What Comes Next

A healthy bay and a healthy local economy go hand in hand. The decisions we make today are the coastline our kids inherit, so we have to think in decades, not election cycles.

— Luke Kilpatrick

I'm an ocean advocate first. I've defended this coastline with the Surfrider Foundation since 2008, I work on the water as a naturalist, and I write the Mia Kingtide books to help kids fall in love with the bay we all depend on. Sand City sits in a uniquely sensitive spot on Monterey Bay, and I want an environmental voice where the decisions get made.

That means smart development that keeps Sand City growing without turning its back on the coast. It means electrifying California in a smart, cost-effective way, because reducing waste and lowering costs for residents also reduces the strain we put on the ocean. Good environmental policy and good fiscal policy are usually the same policy, and I'll govern that way.

I bought my dream home on Ocean View Avenue in 2020, I've shown up at council meetings ever since, and I've spoken up for my neighbors and fellow business owners on the things that affect us all. I can't imagine living anywhere better, and as a council member I intend to serve this community well.

"The Monterey Bay kelp forest is one of the most biodiverse marine environments on Earth. It starts right here, outside our front door. That's not something you take for granted."
